GitHub and terminal issues

I can’t find the page on GitHub that has the green Clone or download button and the Branch master menu tab. Also, when I type git pull origin master in my Terminal app it asks me for my username and I’m not sure if it’s the one I created for the GitHub site in general or my “owner name” of the repositories. Then it prompts me for my password with a key symbol so I enter the keys of my password the the GitHub website but nothing prints and when I hit enter it says invalid password. I am not able to pull the files to my offline folder.

@garybecker Use SourceTree for your git purposes. May be it will helps.

Thank you. I’ll try that.

I don’t see my last post and don’t know if I sent it correctly. About SourceTree not installing.

Sorry. What happen why sourcetree is not installed

The message I got was that the computer is not able to open the file because it can’t check it for viruses and to contact the company for the latest update, but I did try the latest version. I also checked Wikipedia for information about it and it just went to the company Atlassian and merely listed SourceTree in plain text but there was nothing else printed about it.

Hi @garybecker

EVERY repo on GitHub should has a green button that says download zip or clone with HTTPS

What GitHub repo are you looking at?

When you pull from GitHub, you should first set up a remote repository.

Also it’s asking for your GitHub username and password

A remote repo will not solve your issue (asked by Gary in DM)

Given that, I’m not sure if your issue will be solved.

I am confused what you are trying to do

@garybecker

In your original post you say that you can’t see the Clone or Download button. Can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing?

I think I solved the clone and download part, but my project now can’t be accessed by Bitrise.

Thank you. I don’t know if I should respond to everybody individually, so they won’t feel ignored, or if responding to just one member is good enough.

What is DM? Where it says "posted by Gary in DM?

There is no need to reply to every post. Multiple replies only serve to add unnecessary traffic.

DM = Direct Message. As a general rule, we prefer that members do not direct message Moderators unless it is absolutely necessary.
