Hi Everyone,
I’m a beginner and new to Swift and would like to buy a book as a reference to complement Chris’ course. (I haven’t taken the course yet, I am planning on taking it soon.
I’ve heard of a few good book. Maybe a book on objective C or Swift? I’m not sure. Any comments would be appreciated.
Here is what I found interesting on Amazon
1- Swift Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide (2nd Edition) by Matthew Mathias
2- Swift: A Step-by-Step Guide for Absolute Beginners by Daniel Bell
3- Mastering Swift 5: Deep dive into the latest edition of the Swift programming language, 5th Edition by Jon Hoffman
Thanks all.
Well Richard1000, I have bought many books in the past but most often, printed books are out of date when you receive them or soon after. I much prefer online courses offering a dialog with the author who can also update bits and pieces of the course as the new versions arrive, for the same price.
Hello, i think its good to stick to books if you just want basic understanding of how things work like what is a function, what is a class, etc. maybe look for a book that at least tackles swift 5, any older and you will have a bad time
but for code, well, thats a different story, stick to online tutorials and online courses
codes or coding style usually changes everytime it upgrades, swift 4 -> swift 5 , like lots of new functions, but also lots of changes to how things are call and arranged. specially now that swift 5 and ios 13 is new expect a lot of changes in ios development in the coming months/year
