Hello everyone! My name is Alam, and two months ago, I fully committed to embarking on a career change journey.
In 2023, I celebrated my 10th year as a senior architect. However, feeling professionally unfulfilled, I made the decision to take a sabbatical year.
Since then, I have been exploring different topics from the world of computer science. I completed CS50, CS50 Python, ZTM Python, and watched countless YouTube videos on various programming subjects.
As an Apple fan, two months ago, I decided to give iOS development a chance. That’s when I discovered CWC (CodeWithChris), and I was immediately captivated by their methodology and everything surrounding the Apple ecosystem.
My goal is to successfully transition into this new field, secure my first job, and simultaneously work on side projects based on the ideas I’ve been developing.
Currently, I’m working on my first app. I’ll update this post with more concrete information once I have something substantial to share.
Note: There’s an ongoing contest called “RevenueCat Ship-a-ton” that I highly recommend everyone participate in, regardless of whether you’re a beginner or an experienced developer. I encourage you to check it out and see the dates, conditions, and prizes for yourself.
I’m excited about this new chapter in my life and looking forward to connecting with like-minded individuals in this community.
It’s funny because I did exactly the opposite - I started out with all the CWC courses and then did CS50. I can’t imagine starting out with CS50 directly, some of the challenges are brutal - it took me 3 whole days of pure obsession to complete the Tideman problem haha
Chris Ching and David J Malan are both exceptional teachers, I think you’ve made a great choice
Thank you! I completed CS50 back in February, and it was quite challenging. However, as someone with no prior coding background, I believe it was the best choice I could have made.
I’m currently working on my first app as a personal project and I don’t have anything to lose by submitting it, so why not ?. This gives me a deadline to work towards, which is motivating.
Congrats on completing CS50! It’s an incredible challenge for a first coding experience, but now you’ve got a rock solid foundation and you’re able to learn anything Swift feels very natural after learning C haha
Good luck launching your first app, I hope you can make it for Ship-A-Ton!
Good for you. I found CWC a while ago, and its easy enough to follow, and you can make some real progress here, but, as I’ve found out, its just the tip of a Titanic sized iceberg! Cheers & good luck
