CMN - Capstone Project

Greetings all! My name is Chris. After more than 30 years in Corporate Finance roles, I am now retired and pursuing things that I just didn’t have time to do during my career.

I wrote my first Basic code back in 1978 on a TRS-80 computer. It took me a while to find my place in the world and along the way I picked associate degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Information Systems…way back before people had heard of the Internet, but I ended up in accounting.

I have always enjoyed programming as a hobby but have finished very few projects. I decided in late 2024 that I wanted to learn iOS programming. I started with some YouTube videos, but most seemed ahead of my understanding of things at the time. I found Hacking with SwiftUI and did the 100-day program (in about 45 days), which gave me a great foundation to start writing my own apps.

I wrote an app that taps into an API and allows users to see how conditions are at their favorite paragliding sites. The app is complete, but I discovered the API hasn’t been maintained and the information is lacking…but I finished it.

Then I decided that I still had some gaps, so I hopped on CWC+ and, using the curriculum I have begun to fill in gaps.

My capstone project will likely be the app I am currently working on. Trap Tracker allows the user to capture their scores and a host of other data about the Trap Shooting rounds. I have a working prototype (with some help from Cursor) and plan to get feedback from people at my local club.

Ultimately, I would use the data to run metrics and look for patterns in my performance at the range.

That’s it for now!

Chris
