Equipment needs

hi there,
i hope you’re well.
i’ve never used a mac nor do i own one, windows all my life;
what’s the least expensive & bare minimum macbook (& specs) to get in order to start using this site to learn to develop iOS apps?

i welcome guidance and feedback please, thank you and be well

ps- is this a suitable device: Robot or human?

respectfully,
jb

That depends on the year of manufacture and if it can support the latest Mac operating system which is Sonoma (14.5). You will need to be able to use the latest version of Xcode (which is the IDE or Integrated Development Environment) and that is version 15.4.

The reason being that if you are serious about Development you always need to have the latest version of Xcode and macOS to support the current revisions of iPhone, iPad, iWatch, etc and to take advantage of the latest revisions to iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and so on.

The other thing is that you need the latest version of Xcode to upload Apps to the Apple App Store.

Any Mac Mini (if you have a monitor, keyboard/mouse) or a MacBook Air or Pro.
Get at least the M1 chip and at least 512GB SSD.
With the M1, 8GB RAM are OK.
