Installing Big Sur on an unsupported Mac

Hello.

Has anyone had any experience in installing Big Sur on an unsupported Mac?

I have a late 2013 iMac which I’ve recently upgraded (memory and SDD) and it’s running great now so I don’t want to buy a new Mac until the new 27 inch models are available next year.

I have read about using an OpenCore Legacy Patcher to create a patched installer USB to install Big Sur.

I am concerned about the safety of doing this as it could be a devious way to install malware let alone whether it would actually work or slow my Mac down to a crawl.

The one I’m considering is Big Sur on Unsupported Mac [2008-2013] OpenCore Legacy Patcher THE EASY WAY for Older Macs!!!! - YouTube

Any comments would be appreciated.
