Do I need a patent, trademark or trade secret for my app?
Overall (generally) no. There may possibly be a case for it, but like most software you can trademark your company name (and logo)
But it doesn’t stop people from making similar apps.
patents are only for physical inventions (I believe).
Generally, I wouldn’t worry about it at all unless your app gains major traffic (meaning several hundred thousands of downloads)

How did you make your app icon
I use Sketch, which is a paid program, but you can use Adobe XD, Figma, or any design software.
Look at the App Store guidelines, because you need multiple different sizes for your app icon
