Xcode running like a turtle

Hello Chris/Moderators/Xcode Experts/Classmates

I have a 2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 MacBook with 8GB of RAM which is enough for most tasks like editing/rendering complex videos and handling heavy photoshop files with ease. But when it comes to Xcode it becomes a very slow machine. So slow that I can’t keep up with classes because even a simple task takes ages to complete. I suspect it’s because of the IOS simulation, and I’m sure there’s a way to make it run faster. Does anyone here have the same problem? Any help is very welcome.

Thanks in advance!

What year of manufacture is your MacBook and what version of macOS are you running?
Also how much free disk space do you have?

Xcode is a bit of a monster these days so perhaps 8GB of RAM is a little light on particularly if you are running other applications simultaneously.

Also what version of Xcode are you using?

I had an i5, 8GB of RAM computer from 2016 and it was fine for several years
