Hey guys, my name is Charles and I’m a 4th year studying Biomedical Engineering at RIT. I had the idea for a social media app that I think could end up being a profitable company about a year ago. Since we have had to quarantine, I have had the time to actually pursue the idea. My only prior coding experience was in MatLab for engineering projects and I got started with a little bit of C#. I have been watching CodeWChris videos for the past couple of weeks and they have been extremely insightful! I will be purchasing a MBP soon to get started with my project and I’m excited about the knowledge I can gain from the community.

Hello I was developing with flash builder and I am learning with Chris to move to swift . I already have an application running on apple store for Neurology The first issue that I have is that when I create a new project with Xcode
version 11.4.1 , I do not have the File Main.storyboard under the directory of my new application. How can I do to add it ?

Thank you

Hi Pierre-Jean
Welcome to the community. You should ask your question in the Community or App Development Categories rather than on the New Member Introductions thread.
Xcode 11 defaults to using the SwiftUI framework. You need to select Storyboard from the User Interface dropdown options on the screen where you name the project.

Hello Tanujd,

Which IDE did you use to work with C , C++, or C#. I've been unable to use programs from Sam's Teach Yourself C.

Cheers, Jan! We’re glad to know that we somehow made an impact on your learning and goals to have a career in programming. This community will always be in full support. WELCOME! Danke!

Hi @garybecker
I used Visual Studio, but It was a long time ago (Before we had a Mac version or VS Code) and I haven’t touched visual studio for years. Not sure what is the best IDE to use now, however if I were to venture a guess it would still be Visual Studio.
Hope that helps.

Hi,
Retired engineer looking for things to learn and enjoy… figured Swift/iOS coding was a good start!
But still looking for the killer idea for that first app! Hah!

Cheers, DoxieD! You joined the right community then to support you in your goals. Welcome and have fun!

Hi Fellow Learners,
I come to coding late in life having just turned 65 and from Ireland. My ambition is to learn a new skill even if it’s not a career objective. I have no coding experience so for a “Pensioner” I have to admit to being a Code Virgin.
I look forward to being active and involved in this community.

Hi Eamon,

Welcome to the community.

As a fellow 66yo I can tell you there is nothing more enjoyable than extending your knowledge and keeping the ageing brain sharp. You’ll enjoy the learning process but there will be times when you get frustrated. Take a break, have a brew and come back later and have another crack at it.

By the way, there is no such thing as a dumb question so don’t be afraid to ask about anything that you don’t understand. Plenty of folks here willing to help you out.

Good Luck

Hi! My name is Eliot. Grew up in Las Vegas. Unfortunately laid off temporarily. So while I have this free time I would really love to learn app development to bring some of my ideas to life. I feel like at 36 I’m starting a little late but the beauty in today’s times is you can reinvent yourself at anytime. Looking forward to learning from and meeting some of you. Wish nothing but the best for all of you!!!
