Cheers, Karl! Yes, it’s really by applying what you are learning that you’ll eventually get into the groove of things. Cheers for coming back to programming. I am sure that it will be challenging YET rewarding experience for you. We’re cheering for ya!

Hi everyone,

I’m Paul and I just started the 14 day beginner challenge. I don’t have any programming experience, but have a couple app ideas and am hoping to make a career change into iOS programming as all my devices are apple. Am looking forward to meeting you guys. Cheers.

Yup, I’m the one and only Arthur you’ve chatted with. You are so welcome!

Yessss, warmest welcome to you, Paul! Absolute beginners like you excite us the most because your eventual progress would be awesome to see. So hold on tight because you’ve already reached this far for you to even turn your back around. Enjoy your learning journey!

My name is Parker and I’ve been trying to learn how to code for a long time, but always get stuck and then some distraction or other pulls me to something else. (For example in Apple’s Learn to Code books, there’s a point where their code just does not work at all, even after I went through it and re-did my code several times.)

No longer. I’m committed. I have an app I want to build for work because we’ve been searching forever for something to replace what we have but no one has what we want.

I took the 14-day challenge, and although my code looks nothing like Chris’s solution for the lesson 13 challenge, it works! It took me eight hours to figure out, but it works.

Glad to be a part of this. There were two occasions where I was near despair over being able to understand how to do this, but I’m sticking with it.

WELCOME, Parker! Thanks for not givng up! The fortune belongs to the brave and determined, haha. It must have been an amazing feeling to finally see your code work after hours and hours of problem-solving. You’ll experience more of that soon, so just keep on going! Cheering for you!

My code was vastly less efficient than Chris’s, but the thing works, finally. Hoping to learn more about user interface design as well, because my UI elements didn‘t line up the way I was hoping for (I chose a different interface than the lesson). Can’t quite figure out how to make the images smaller and get all the elements up into that top half comfortably. But dang, I put that on my iPhone and it works!

Hello!
I’m Christopher. I’m a recent high school graduate that will be starting college this August in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. In high school, the few CS courses focused around Java, but in my free time, I’ve played around with Python, Swift, C++, HTML, CSS, and Arduinos. While, I have experience coding in Swift, I haven’t touched the app development and UI side of things.

I enjoy coding, but I don’t really have a specific career in mind. I hope the combination of my college courses, past courses, and CWC+, will help give me that insight. While I’m not against a career in iOS app development, I’m just not sure what I want so I started to explore app development based on the interest it held in me.

Regardless of the path I choose, I think CWC+ will be a good jumping off point to explore app development.

Good luck to you all!

Cheers, Chris! Welcome to the CodeCrew family! Yup, you have years ahead to figure out what career you’ll pursue. But it’s nice that you are already learning as much as you can because that will make you more ready in the future once it’s time for you to decide on a career. Have a great college experience!

Hey guys!

I’m Mage Ona and I’m almost done with 14 day challenge. I aspire to create my app that’s why I took the annual membership for these courses!:hugs::hugs:
I’m just wondering why the UI is not showing for this? See the attached photo. Thank you!

Welcome to the community Mary.

Please see my private message I sent you regarding posting questions in the “Course Student” section. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, my name is Carlos. I am in Macau. I was an accounting student in college too. Nice to meet you. I am currently doing the IOS course in 2020. I am using a m2 air with 8gb only.

Hi folks… I discovered Chris’ videos two days ago while searching YT for some good Swift/iOS tutorials. I’ve already blown through the “8 Days to an App” series and should finish the Menu App series today.

I’ve been a web app dev for almost 28 years using what is actually an amazing language but has a lot of detractors (we can fight about that later in another topic if you want), ColdFusion. The problem is that it’s getting harder and harder to find work and I flat out DO NOT want to learn “dot net.” The less Microsoft crap, the better.

I’m trying to push through all this as fast as I can, since having already been a programmer for ages, the language itself is pretty similar, with only a few syntactical differences. So for me it’s more about how to build the actual app and how to work with iOS. I’m sincerely hoping that after I absorb a bunch of this, I can whip up a couple of small apps I’ve had in the back of my mind for a while… nothing fancy, and nothing that will make any money, but hopefully it’ll help me get an entry-level Swift/iOS developer job or contract.

I also have a “real” app idea in my head… more like a business idea than just an app, but I’ve concluded that getting funding to realize it just isn’t going to happen. I’m not an MBA, I have no desire to write a “business plan” and I have no idea how to talk to investors. So I hope to start building that app in September, and it’s accompanying website soonafter… THEN I’ll have something to show people.

That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.

Hey guys! My name is Gabe. I am an 18 year old High School almost graduate (just a few more months!!!).

I’ve always been fascinated with programming and app-development since I was little and it seems like it would be a pretty cool career, if not skill, to have. I’m nearly done with the 8 day War Game course and having a blast! While I’m sure my current learning high will fade, I’m determined to stick with learning the art of app development. :1st_place_medal::eyes: :2nd_place_medal: :3rd_place_medal:

You are a very lucky guy. In 2000, I have completed an AA degree (GPA 4.00) in web development, but never get a job in the field. Now, I am almost 60. My goal for taking the Chris’ courses is to submit an app to Apple Store to prove that I can become a developer too.

New to iOS dev, but work in process automation and control with ABB and PLC based systems. I’ve done some Arduino work and coding with a Nextion HMI for a specific need app, but I want to move to iOS to combine the two. I’m going to learn iOS dev to build it myself!

I’d like to request CWC add a course on Bluetooth comms since I’ll need that to communicate with a laser module and remote matrix display. Please add one. I’m sure others here would also welcome that kind of course.

Now, off to learning…

Hey everyone!

My name’s Mickey.
I’m a web developer (React/Next/TS/CSS/a11y all that fun stuff). Years ago I did some courses with CWC, but that was before SwiftUI was introduced.

Late last year I was laid off in a big company reorg so all of a sudden I found myself with a lot of down time and it felt like the right time to pick up Swift again. Already did some of the foundation course and I’m happy the quality is as good as I remember it - happy to be back again

See you around!

Hi Code Crew

My name is Orion :grinning: I wanted to learn to code as I think it is a vital skill for the future and would really broaden my skill for the future. I have been semi trying to program for 6 months but this course Is the stepping stone to a brighter future. I would love to connect with someone else committed to finishing all of the courses because accountability helps a lot.

Please message me if that interests you let’s kill 2024 and do something for our future thank you Chris
